Did You or Your
Kids Get a Flu Shot this Year?
Influenza can cause a high
fever, cough, and sore throat. Every year, about 20,000
children are hospitalized for Flu, even healthy children are
at risk. The Flu can also cause complications in people
with existing medical problems such as asthma, heart disease
and diabetes.
Since babies under the age
of six months are too young to get Flu shots, they are at
their greatest risk from it. To keep them safe, parents
can get flu shots for themselves and your baby's older
siblings, since you're in daily contact with your infant.
Flu shots aren't only for
kids. According to the Department of Labor, the number
of workers who miss work due to illness are at their highest
from December to March, the time of year commonly known as
"flu season."

One study showed that
workers who don't get a flu shot account for almost half of
all sick days during that time. It pays to be healthy,
not to mention that no one enjoys being sick.
Kids and teens can also
avoid missing out on schoolwork, sports events, or other
school activities by being prepared. Keeping your
children healthy also means less chance of missing work to
stay home and care for them. |
